ABOUT US
Boquete Community Fund, Inc., (“BCF”) is incorporated in the United States in the State of Delaware. BCF has been granted tax-exempt status by Internal Revenue Service. It is recognized as a charitable organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the US tax code. Its Federal ID is: 93-4835414.

BCF plans set up a separate duly organized Panamanian nonprofit so that it can be fully compliant with both national and international regulations concerning charitable donations.
BCF is structured to be a "Fund of Funds" and to serve as an umbrella organization to raise funds for charitable purposes in Boquete and environs in the province of Chiriqui, especially, but not solely, from US donors. Upon request, BCF will serve as fiscal agent for one or more charitable organizations based in Boquete.
Amigos del Parque
Amigos del Parque (“ADP”) Fund is the first fund functioning under BCF. The primary purpose of ADP is to raise funds for the new Parque Biblioteca de Boquete, otherwise known as Boquete Library Park.

The Board of Directors of the Boquete Community Fund
Penelope (Penny) Barrett is a 21+ year resident of Boquete. She's been involved in most of the charitable organizations in Boquete at one time or another. She is currently the treasurer of the Boquete Handicap Foundation as well as the Amigos del Parque committee.
Nicolás Choy is the general manager of Jarquin,S.A in David. He serves on the Board of the Fundación Biblioteca de Boquete, and is an active member of the Amigos del Parque.Boquete advocate and enthusiastic reader.
Adriane Cromer holds a Masters degree from the Yale School of Environment, has conducted research in Panama with the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute, and has designed and implemented two outdoor science and environmental education programs here in Chiriquí. She is co-founder of Milky Way Creamery with her husband Piero Mercanti, and they have two young (park-loving!) daughters.
Richard Lipner is the owner of Finca Dos Jefes, living in El Salto since 2002. In addition to coffee farming, he runs an educational project in the Ngabe-Bugle Comarca.
Karen Rubinstein moved to Boquete in 2019 with her sister Barbara Rubinstein, also a member of the BCF Board, for its beauty and its birds. Before retiring, Karen was the director of a nonprofit organization, based in New York City. Barbara was employed by the City of New York.
Peter Sterling, a neuroscientist, has been living with his wife Sally Zigmond on an old orange farm in Palmira Abajo since 2005. His most recent book is What is Health?
